Hello
Within a EDR from a 2014 KIA; occupant Size Classification in the last row if the left column in the attachment had a ‘no’.
Is this ‘no’ indicating it is not a child passenger but an adult passenger OR does the ‘no’ indicate no passenger. Note - airbag warming light is OFF.
Thank you
Occupant Size Classification in 2014 Kia
Re: Occupant Size Classification in 2014 Kia
I'm going through old unanswered posts and trying to answer where I can for the benefit of anyone searching for a similar set of circumstances.
The answer to your question, "Is this ‘no’ indicating it is not a child passenger but an adult passenger OR does the ‘no’ indicate no passenger." is potentially either.
The occupant classification is not a required element under NHTSA Part 563 unless it is recorded. All that is being recorded is whether or not the right front seat is occupied by a child. If the seat were occupied by a child it would say "yes." If the seat were occupied by an adult (not occupied by a child) it would say "no." If the seat were unoccupied (not occupied by a child) it would say "no."
Not much help but that's what we get.
As far as the airbag warning lamp is concerned that data parameter is related to the malfunction indicator light (MIL) and has nothing to do with whether or not someone is sitting in the right front seat.
