ARC-CSI Crash Conference 2012 - Force meter

Post by Texastroop »

Can anyone give me any information on the "force meter" that was used during the day of crash testing? This is the one that was attached to the wrecker and used to pull the car to determine a drag factor for the roadway surface.

It's a dynamometer that Fast Towing has on hand to essentially drag cars on scene. Basically makes the involved car a huge "drag sled." A couple of the guys from the conference staff and Boot Camp are working on an article describing how it worked, compare it to other drag factor tests/estimates and such for an upcoming issue of Collision.
