Re: Vault/Fall Takeoff Angle Question

Your description of the side to side elevation difference would mainly impart a roll response to the vehicle landing lower than takeoff driver side on relatively level terrain passenger side in ditch, lower than driver side, approx 20 degrees the side to side elevation difference would only act to i...

Re: Crush measuring when damaged part is removed

Excellent informative responses! I will also add that i agree the initial scan before door removal should provide a good basis for crush measurements. And always keep in mind when doing damage analysis... it ain't rocket science and so crude measurements are FINE For additional info see: Damage anal...

Ooops!
Thanks for the reminder.
I forgot to also include the conversion factors for going from the Least Square Linear fit b0 & b1 (Campbell) to A & B (Crash)
Same as the IPTM you mentioned

Re: Stiffness Coefficients

It is pretty straight forward i have a page on our McHenry Forum HOWTO Calculate CRASH3 A & B Coefficients, AKV (for SMAC) Which includes the steps to calculate A & B I note it uses tools in our msmac3D software For those without the msmac3D software I will edit and add instructions on how t...

Here's an extremely preliminary look at things indicates Lexus ~50 MPH, Taurus ~18 couple items needed to refine: actual weights of vehicles? were either carrying anything other than passengers and then how many and approx weights? better definition of the data/details the diagrams are very poor res...

Sorry for the delay in looking at this
do you have pictures of the damage to each vehicle?
that will tell the impact configuration so please post or email.

Re: I have Doubts...

i'm sorry for your loss if you have a scaled diagram (the police should have measured to each of those evidence markings) and also the police report/crash reconstruction where is the scene (so a google map/aerial can be obtained) we can take a informal look and let you know what we think/what additi...

Here's a couple of links to information on various rollover reconstruction methods References on Rollover speed versus the number of rotations? Re: What is the Change in Deceleration Rate in Relation to Velocity of Crashes?

Whereas i was hoping someone would join in so i don't monopolize the discussions, its been a month and you've gotten no response. So here's a quick first pass: : You ask: Is there a relationship between the deceleration rate of the crash time period and impact velocity of the vehicle? For example, m...

Re: NC collision with traffic signal sequence report.

I recommend you cut the police officer some slack. Realize they handle many cases, especially in a large city like Charlotte, and so you are but one of many cases. Be patient and understanding. Police officers have very different work schedules from the 'normal 9-5' so might be they are on a few day...

An interesting word problem! Re: Front Bumper damaged

CORRECTION: From the overhead it appears that prior to impact THE OTHER VEHICLE traveled approx 50 feet South. YOU TRAVELED approx 20 feet West?? with both starting from a stopped position that would mean THEY were in the intersection well before YOU were? In most states the responsibility is on the...

Re: Front Bumper damaged

more details required...what is the intersection? (so we can find on google maps and see distances, etc) And which way were you heading and which way were they headed prior to impact? The fact you could stop and they sheared across your front shows they were probably going faster than you at impact ...
